"If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced" - Vincent Van Gogh
There has never been a time where I can remember not wanting to be an artist. I was lucky enough to grow up with a mom who loved art and also loved to read picture books to me every night. I remember looking at the pictures in Beatrix Potter and Dr. Seuss books and falling in love with the idea of making the pictures for books, just like them. In the second grade we were required to make a scrapbook chronicling all of the events of that year. On one page we were asked to draw a picture of what we wanted to be when we grew up. In big, bold letters I wrote "ARTIST" and drew a picture of myself painting at an easel. It seems funny listening to people talk about all of the different things they wanted to be before making their "final" decision because I never wanted to be anything else. I won't lie and say that I didn't entertain the idea of taking what some would call the more "practical" route, but I always came back to art with my mom's voice in the back of my head telling me that if I wasn't happy, the money wouldn't really be worth it.
And that brings us to today.
So, I just want to take the time to thank you for taking time out of your day and visiting my website. You could be doing literally anything else, but the fact that you spent this time looking at my work means the world to me. I hope you enjoyed looking at the work as much as I've enjoyed making it.
